A Chill is in the air. But that won’t stop us from a little winter adventure and maybe even a New Years resolution—Adventure! Join us on January 14, 2017, for our 3rd annual winter adventure race “The Chill” …because adventure knows no season.
Don’t put the bike and gear away just yet. Hit the outdoors this winter for 3 or 6 hours of trekking, mountain biking, navigation and maybe even a little snow shoeing. Optional of course. We ski in the snow so why not race:) The Chill will take place in one of Montgomery County’s gems, Little Bennett Regional Park. With miles of trails, fire roads, and forest it is a perfect place for a winter escape. So don’t let the winter blues get you down and join us for “The Chill”.
3 Hour Race
The 3 hour “Chill” is designed to introduce you to the greatest sport in the world! If have been curious about adventure racing but hesitant to give it a go, this is the race for you. Maybe you love the outdoors and being in the woods…but the navigation element scares you. Or you love to hike/run and ride bikes…but not too sure about doing it in the woods. Or you have a background in other endurance sports and are sick and tired of the same old thing.
We’ve got you covered! The navigation for this race will be very beginner-friendly, with all checkpoints on trails or roads and no prior experience necessary. The trekking/running sections will be straight-forward (no nasty bushwhacking) and the mountain biking will be on fire roads/roads and easy riding trails. Any bike will suffice. But no road bikes or skinny tires allowed. And where is the paddle? No paddle for this one.
Overall, this race is meant to give you a taste of what adventure racing is all about. Working with a team, spending quality time in the woods, and pushing yourself a little further than you thought possible. So give it a go! And if you become addicted you can blame us.
6 Hour Race
The 6 hour is back again with a brand new course! There is a lot of great land at Little Bennett and you haven’t seen it all yet!
The 6 hour course is a perfect race for those looking to get a little adventure and exercise in during the middle of winter. Maybe you are getting ready and training for races in the Spring. The course will be designed for the more experienced racer or those with experience being in the woods for 6 hours or longer. The navigation with be more challenging with trekking and bushwhacking off trail and the mountain biking will include some sweet single track. It will probably be cold outside but we are pretty sure you will warm up very quickly.
And what if it snows? No problem, we won’t let a little snow stop us. Got snow shoes or a fat tire bike?
So join us for a fun day outside in the dead of winter! Because adventure knows no season.
